Training Camp No. 4

June 10 – 16, 2023, Cheile Gradistei, Romania

What an Incredible Week at the Olympic Weightlifting Training Camp in Romania! 🇷🇴

Between June 10–16, 2023, we hosted Training Camp No. 4 at Cheile Grădiștei, Romania. A full week dedicated to improving Olympic weightlifting technique, strength, mobility, and confidence in a focused and supportive environment. Surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Romania, athletes from multiple countries came together with one shared goal: to train hard, learn from each other, and develop better movement patterns under the bar.

This week-long experience offered athletes the opportunity to train like professionals, receive individualized coaching, and immerse themselves in a structured program built around long-term progress. For many, it was not just a chance to sharpen technique, but also to understand the mindset and discipline required to excel in Olympic lifting.

International Athletes Who Joined Us

We had the privilege of working with an incredible group of lifters:

Jonathan Levitas – United States

Paweł Siemaszko – Poland

Josh Bringas – United States

Robert Luciani – Sweden

James Hegarty Odowd – United Kingdom

Cameron McCowan – United Kingdom

Each lifter brought unique strengths, backgrounds, and goals. Their combined effort created an uplifting environment where everyone pushed each other to improve.

Highlights From This Week in Romania

Throughout the week, the athletes completed nine structured training sessions, all designed to reinforce the fundamentals of the snatch and clean & jerk. These sessions included positional drills, timing work, pulling mechanics, overhead stability, and consistent feedback to refine movement quality.

Mobility work and warm-up routines were also emphasized. Many lifters reported improved shoulder stability, hip mobility, and confidence in receiving positions after several days of corrective work. Alongside the main lifting sessions, athletes also benefited from recovery protocols such as sauna, stretching sequences, and guided cool-downs to help manage training volume.

The environment at Cheile Grădiștei played a big role in the success of the week. Training surrounded by mountains, fresh air, and quiet scenery allowed athletes to disconnect from daily life and focus entirely on improving their technique. Shared meals, discussions about lifting strategy, and conversations about training created a strong sense of community among participants.

Throughout the week, athletes progressed not only physically but mentally. By learning how to approach heavy attempts, how to warm up efficiently, and how to analyze their lifts, they left with tools that support consistent long-term development.

A Word From Coach Gabriel Sincraian

“Coaching athletes from around the world is always a privilege. Seeing them apply corrections, improve session by session, and support each other is what makes these weeks special. Their discipline and desire to learn made this one of the most productive weeks we’ve had.”
