What an Unforgettable Training Camp During a Challenging Year! 🇷🇴
From September 7–13, 2020, we hosted Training Camp No. 2 in Cheile Grădiștei, Romania. A week that will always remain unique in the history of our camps. This edition took place in one of the most difficult moments for international travel, right in the middle of the global COVID situation.
Originally, the training camp was fully booked with six athletes from multiple countries. However, due to strict travel cancellations, border closures, and quarantine rules, only two athletes were able to attend — both from Romania. Even though the circumstances were unpredictable, their determination allowed this event to happen, and it became one of the most meaningful editions we ever hosted.
This training camp was a reminder that passion for weightlifting continues even when the world stops. It proved that progress can still happen when people show resilience and commitment.
Athletes Who Joined Training Camp No. 2
Despite all the obstacles, we were proud to coach:
Laurențiu Tănăsescu – Romania
Raluca Manucu – Romania
Their willingness to participate, train hard, and continue their development during such an uncertain year made this event truly special.
Key Highlights From Training Camp No. 2
Even with a very small group, the training week was highly productive and focused. The intimate environment allowed for extremely personalized coaching, detailed analysis, and more hands-on correction time per athlete.
Throughout the training camp, the program included:
Technical sessions for the snatch and clean & jerk
Pulling mechanics and bar path understanding
Overhead stability and receiving positions
Warm-up structure and mobility routines
Strength work through squats, pushes, and pulling variations
Because the group was so small, each athlete had the opportunity to repeat movements more frequently, receive immediate feedback, and practice corrections with full attention. This created a powerful learning environment, even during a year filled with challenges.
The peaceful mountain setting of Cheile Grădiștei also helped athletes maintain focus, reduce stress, and train in a calm, isolated environment — something extremely valuable during the COVID year.
A Message From Coach Gabriel Sincraian
“Training Camp No. 2 happened during one of the hardest years for travel and for sport. Even though only two athletes managed to come, their commitment meant a lot. They helped keep this project alive during a time when everything was uncertain. I will always appreciate the courage and dedication they showed.”

Why Training Camp No. 2 Was So Special
This edition stands out from all the others because it proved how powerful the weightlifting community can be when facing difficult times. Even with global uncertainty and travel restrictions, the event continued — not with six athletes, but with two highly motivated lifters who refused to let circumstances stop them.
The entire week was filled with focus, discipline, and the joy of being able to train in person again. The athletes had a unique opportunity to work closely with their coach, refine their technique faster, and receive more technical attention than in larger groups.
Their participation helped ensure that the training camp project did not stop. Thanks to them, future editions continued to grow, leading to the international training camps we host today.

Additional Reflections From This Edition
Training Camp No. 2 emphasized the importance of adaptability. Even though it was planned as an international gathering, it became a local, intimate training experience that offered exceptional value. Both athletes showed patience, discipline, and a true love for Olympic weightlifting — qualities that made this week memorable despite all the limitations.
Their presence kept the spirit of the training camp alive during a year when many sporting events were canceled. This resilience helped pave the way for future camps, proving that progress continues as long as athletes keep showing up.
