Epsom Weightlifting Seminar 2024 — Gabriel Sincraian × Sika Strength
On November 30 – December 1, 2024, I held a weightlifting seminar in Epsom, UK, together with Sika Strength. This two-day event was created for athletes who wanted to learn Olympic lifts with proper technique, understand Romanian training principles, and receive direct coaching in a real training environment.
The seminar brought together lifters of all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. My goal was simple: teach the fundamentals of snatch, clean & jerk, and strength work in a way that is clear, practical, and easy to apply in training.
Day 1 – Snatch Technique, Pulling Mechanics & Strength Work
We started the first day with warm-up structure, mobility, and barbell positions. After that, we focused on snatch fundamentals:
bar path
receiving position
balance and speed under the bar
pulling variations (snatch pull, snatch high pull)
Athletes practiced different variations depending on their level. Many lifters improved their stability and bar contact within the first hour.
We finished the day with a strength session inspired by Romanian training style: squats, presses, and accessory exercises that target weaknesses.
Day 2 – Clean & Jerk Technique + Romanian Old-School Training
The second day of the weightlifting seminar focused on clean, front squat positions, and jerk technique. We used drills to build confidence in footwork, dip & drive, lockout, and overhead stability.
In the final part, I showed the group some of the “old school” Romanian weightlifting programming that I used when preparing for international competitions. The goal was to give athletes the same feeling I had in training camps 15 years ago.
We finished with a Q&A session where athletes asked questions about training, programming, recovery, and weightlifting improvement.
Why this Weightlifting Seminar Was Special
Training with athletes in person is always different than online. In Epsom, we had a strong group, great energy, and everyone made visible progress in just two days. Small corrections, simple cues, and consistent repetitions helped every lifter fix at least one major issue.
For me, this seminar was also important because I trained together with the group, similar to how we used to do it in Romanian national training camps.
