Tall Snatch

Tall Snatch

The Tall Snatch is a variation of the snatch lift that is used to develop proper positioning, speed, and extension in the lift. It is performed by starting with the barbell at the waist level and then lifting it overhead in one motion, similar to a regular snatch lift, but the lifter stands taller and starts the lift with the barbell at the hip level. The lifter will start with a taller body position, so he must extend the body more to reach the overhead position. This variation focuses on the lifter’s mobility and flexibility, as well as on the extension and speed of the lift. The Tall snatch can be used as an accessory exercise to develop proper extension and speed in the snatch lift, it is important to have a good level of technique, mobility, and stability before attempting this exercise.
