Snatch Balance

Snatch Balance

Start with the barbell on your back, using a wide snatch grip. From a standing position, initiate a small dip and drive with your legs, then quickly drop under the bar into a deep overhead squat position, locking your arms overhead. Stand up to complete the lift, then lower the bar back onto your shoulders and repeat.

Purpose

The snatch balance is used to improve an athlete’s balance, speed under the bar, and overhead lockout position in the snatch. It helps build confidence and stability in the catch phase.

Cues

  • Straight up/down dip-drive
  • Keep mid-foot pressure
  • Elbows tight
