A depth jump is a plyometric exercise used to increase the power and explosiveness of the lower body.
The exercise involves jumping from a platform of fixed height (usually 30–60 centimeters) onto the ground and immediately performing another jump as high as possible.
The depth jump strengthens the muscles of the lower body, particularly the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calf muscles, and helps to improve the elasticity of the tendons and ligaments.
It is often used as a way to increase the athlete‘s vertical jump height.
